The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

The book the Boy in the Striped Pajamas has 216 pages of sadness. This book is about a boy, Bruno, who has an adventurous mind. He has a secret friend, Shmuel, who is Jewish and lives in a concentration camp in which Bruno thinks is a "playground". In the end he goes under the fence with a shaved head and striped pajamas and holding Shmuels hand he goes on a march to death. One conflict in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is text vs. world.
One conflict in the Boy in the Striped Pajamas is text vs. world. Lieutenant kotler is extremley rude to Shmuel just like what the Nazi's did to the Jews in the Holocaust.
It's amazing that someone can just hate someone else sooooo much that they end up killing them all just because Hitler didn't like them. You don't see other people going around killing others because you don't like them. One thing that angered me in the book was when the germans were laughing at the Jews and mocking them. I really, really, really recommend this book!

The Story of My Life

The Story of My Life by Helen Keller is 222 pages filled with sadness, excitement, and perseverence. This story is about a little girl who at the age of 2 gets diagnosed with blindness and deafness. She gets spoiled until Miss Sullivan (Helen's teacher) comes and teaches her manners, words, and love. Ever since the day that Miss Sullivan puts Helen's hand under running water and spells W-A-T-E-R, Helen began to learn, not by seeing or hearing, but by touch. Helen Keller was a girl with many different characteristics.

Helen Keller was a girl with different emotions, as well. In the beginning she acted like a spoiled brat. When she first started getting lessons she was a little bratty but not as much as she was when she was younger. While she was in High School she seemed to take it very seriously. When she started college she seemed really overwhelmed.
Helen Keller's disabilities make the story sad but what I like about her is that she didn't let that stop her from living her life.

Boy of the Painted Cave

The book, Boy of the Painted Cave, by Justin Denzel is 158 pages long. In this book, Tao, a boy with a bad foot, dreams of becoming a cave painter, but can't because of his bad foot. He also wasn't born of a leader/choosen one. Though even breaking all of the rules (or taboos) of the clan in the end, he becomes the new cave painter of the clan.

One of the major conflicts is when Tao goes against his clan by secretly drawing on the cave walls. This goes on throughout the book and no one finds out except for the shaman, Graybeard. When Graybeard comes along he teaches Tao how to draw which is also taboo. If one of his clan members especially the leader, Volt, found out that he is drawing they would either kill him or make him face Saxon the sacred bull.
